Lisa has been teaching classes for the Mind & Body since 2008, and has well over 1800 hours of hands-on teaching experience. She has explored and trained in varying styles of Yoga, but prefers not to identify her teaching with any one style. If she had to label it, it would be Wellness Yoga. Most everyone can practice Yoga to enhance their lifestyle.
Lisa currently offers Private/Semi-Private sessions, Workshops and classes in; Yoga Fundamentals, Beginner's Yoga, Intro to Vinyasa, Slow Flow, Power Flow, Restorative Yoga, Gentle Yoga and Pilates-Yoga fusion. Pranayama and Meditation are also offered separately or integrated for your complete yoga practice.
Lisa is a Certified Teacher in several yogic disciplines, and is an Experienced Registered Teacher with the Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour & 500-hour levels in both Classical Yoga and Vinyasa. Amongst her other teaching credentials, she was granted the title of Yoga Acharya (Master of Yoga) upon graduating from a lengthy and intensive training session in classical yoga at the Sivananda Yoga Vendanta Centre in Nassau.
If you aren't familiar with yoga accreditation, a 200 hour certification could be thought of as the equivalent of an Associate’s Degree in Yoga Studies, and a 500 hour certification a Bachelors Degree.
Lisa has been a practitioner of Yoga for more than 20 years. Her teaching style is influenced by her earliest practices in the Iyengar and Anusara methods, both of which are mindful of body alignment.
She strives to continually increase her personal knowledge of yogic principles and techniques. She frequently attends continuing education workshops in anatomy and physiology principles, and translates the knowledge gained into her own brand of alignment based yoga teaching.
You can also be sure that Core strength awareness is integrated into her classes due to her many years of Pilates practice.
